Parsons spurns Lady Rangers past West Ridge

The Unaka Lady Rangers continued to play solid softball on Monday as they traveled to Blountville to tangle with the West Ridge Lady Wolves.
Alana Parsons carried the big stick for Coach Kenneth Chambers team as she totaled four hits while leading Unaka to a 7-2 road win.
Parsons singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in both the fifth and seventh innings. Kendall Barton put the Lady Rangers on the scoreboard first in the second frame when she singled in a run to make it 1-0 Unaka.
West Ridge knotted things up in the bottom of the second as a Gracie Olinger single on a 2-2 count scored a run to make it a 1-1 game.
The Lady Rangers began to pull away in the fourth inning when two runs came across the dish. An error allowed one Lady Ranger run while a Hailey Taylor groundout scored another to make it 3-1 Unaka.
Two more runs came across in the fifth and the Lady Rangers kept up the offense to win going away. Unaka managed to rack up 14 hits on the day with Parsons, Barton, Jill Faust, and Kendall Bare all collecting a multiple-hit game.
Trinity Bowers was the winning pitcher in the circle for Unaka. Bowers allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings. She struck out three and walked one.
Madison Chapman took the loss for the Lady Wolves surrendering six runs on 14 hits in seven innings. Chapman recorded one strikeout and walked one. She also went 2-for-3 at the dish to lead West Ridge in hits.
