Cyclone netters split with West Ridge

The Elizabethton Cyclone tennis team gained a split when they met the West Ridge Wolves in a tennis match.
Elizabethton pulled off a 7-2 team win in boy’s action while the Lady Wolves took care of the Lady Cyclones 8-1 in girl’s play.
On the boy’s side of the net, the Cyclones Elijah Smith took a win over Grayson Manis, 8-4, to get Elizabethton off to a good start in one-seed action.
The Cyclone boys proceeded to sweep the two through six-seed play as Kaden Street defeated Jeffrey Soto (8-5), Hudson Smith downed Spencer Manis (8-6), Carson Peters handled Camron Easler (8-3), Anderson Hallman easily defeated Elijah Hood (8-2), and Nicholas Wilson took care of Abram Whitfield (8-3).
In doubles play, West Ridge’s Grayson Manis and Jeffrey Soto dealt the Cyclone team of Elijah Smith and Street a 9-7 defeat in a close match.
Hudson Smith and Peters took care of the Wolves Spencer Manis and Hood by a five-game difference, 8-3. West Ridge took their second victory of the day when Easler and McFarland defeated Wilson and Owen Slagle.
In girl’s action, Maggie Rowland notched the only win of the day for the Lady Cyclones as Rowland dealt West Ridge’s Angelina Kerney an 8-5 defeat in number two-seed action.
Mattie Davis of Elizabethton pushed Lady Wolves’ #1 seed Laynie Jordan to the edge before dropping a 9-7 (4-7) tiebreaker. Maylie Stout also battled hard in #6 seed play as she fell to West Ridge’s Haley Webb by a 9-7 score.
