Softball fans always get their money’s worth and more when the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones and Sullivan East Lady Patriots hook up for a softball showdown and Tuesday was no different as the game spotlight was on the pitchers while both offenses struggled to get any run production.
In the end, the Lady Patriots did just enough at the plate to slip past the Lady Cyclones in a 2-1 Upper Lakes Conference win.
Johnson College signee Madisun Pritchard toed the rubber for the Lady Cyclones and threw a game worthy of a victory as the senior went six innings, allowing the two runs on seven hits, and striking out eight Lady Patriot batters.
However, Lexie McDuffie was just as effective from the circle for East as the hurler surrendered the solo run on six hits tossing six and two-thirds innings while striking out six and walking none.
Ember Jensen led the Lady Cyclones on the day at the dish with a 3-for-3 effort while Abby Lacey also went 3-for-3 for East to lead in that category.
Elizabethton also got one hit apiece from Maely Ingram, Emma O’Quinn, and Bailee VanHuss. Ingram added a stolen base.
The loss was the first of the season for Elizabethton as the Lady Cyclones now stands at 5-1.
