FROM STAFF REPORTS
Joshua Adam Hill was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday for charges of rape and sexual battery stemming from an incident involving a juvenile girl.
Hill was convicted Nov. 4, 2021, on two counts each of aggravated rape, incest and sexual battery. He was sentenced by Carter County Criminal Court Judge Lisa Rice.
Rice sentenced Hill to 20 years each on the rape charges, to be served concurrently, and fives years for the sexual battery conviction, to run consecutively to the rape sentence.
Tennessee law requires that Hill serve 100 percent of the aggravated rape sentence. He was given pretrial jail credit for the time he has spent in jail awaiting trial which was from May 14 and 15, 2019 and Nov. 4, 2021 to March 25, 2022.
Hill also received a five-year sentence on the incest charge, to run concurrent with others.
Once released, Hill will spend the rest of his life on community supervision and be placed on the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry for life. He was ordered by Rice to have no contact with the victim.
Rice fined Hill a total of $60,000 and court costs.
