Police seek assistance in identifying suspect in phone theft

The Elizabethton Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a young man that was involved in the theft of a cell phone.
Investigators said the theft took place at the Quick Stop Marathon on West Elk Avenue on March 5 around 3:35 p.m. The victim placed his phone on the counter and left the store leaving it on the counter.
The suspect was the next person in line and picked up the phone from the counter and left the store with it. There are no other descriptions of the suspect, according to the EPD.
Anonymous tips can be submitted via text message by texting TIPEPD and your tip to 847411.
