Bulldogs stay unbeaten on young season with win over Mitchell County

Coach Nicholas Perkins can’t do anything but smile these days as he continues to watch his Hampton Bulldog team continue to roll in the young season.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs used a big eight-run third inning to pull away from the visitors from Mitchell County, NC to take an 11-4 win to go 6-0 on the season, 16-4 in their last 20 home games, and 20-7 in their last 27 games overall.
The big inning on Tuesday saw Morgan Lyons, Caleb Royston, McKinley Kuhn, Conor Jones, Kyler Lewis, and Chance Point all collect RBIs in the frame.
Jonathan Greenwell toed the rubber for the first three innings for the ‘Dogs giving up two runs on three hits. He struck out four Mitchell County batters and walked none.
Chance Point threw three innings while Colin Morgan closed out the final inning. The pitching staff combined for a total of 10 strikeouts in the win.
Morgan, Jones, and Lewis collected two hits apiece to lead the Bulldogs at the plate while Jones, Kuhn, and Royston each collected a pair of RBIs.
Mitchell County only had six hits in the game with Korrer Murphy and Ethan Willis collecting two hits each.
The Bulldogs will be participating in the Smoky Bear Classic Thursday through Saturday.
