The Elizabethton Police Department is warning area residents of a scam targeting customers of the Elizabethton Electric Department.
According to a statement, the Elizabethton Electric Department has been receiving complaints from customers stating that someone from phone number, 423-289-1286, has been calling customers, telling them that if they have paid their last three months’ bills, they are offering a 25% discount on their bill. If anyone receives a call from phone number 423-289-1286, please contact Tammy Oxendine, toxendine@cityofelizabethton.org, at 423-547-8602.
