The Happy Valley Lady Warriors were looking to pick up a win Monday at home when they welcomed the West Greene Lady Buffaloes to Lady Warrior Diamond for a conference showdown.
West Greene took a 1-0 lead in the first and both teams battled through the middle innings before the Lady Buffs added two more to their side in the top of the seventh inning to get some breathing room and hold on for the 3-0 win.
The Lady Warriors struggled to get anything offensive going letting a prime opportunity in the bottom of the first slip away after getting runners on three runners on base only to come up empty.
Meanwhile, Happy Valley wasn’t doing a bad job either from inning two to six as they set the Lady Buffaloes up three up and three down each inning before West Greene managed to send the two runs across in the final inning.
Maddie Lingerfelt and Trista Bowers had two hits apiece in the Lady Warrior 10-hit afternoon.
Meanwhile, Ella Marvel pitched a strong seven innings for the Lady Warriors allowing two earned runs while striking out five and allowing only three West Greene hits in the contest.
