A late afternoon two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Rittertown and Gap Creek Road sent one driver to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The Hampton Volunteer Fire Department had to remove the driver’s side door from a gray Honda Civic to allow the Carter County Rescue Squad to remove the car’s driver and transport her to the hospital.
A red Honda Fit had damage to the front end but the driver didn’t require emergency treatment.
The drivers were the only passenger in each vehicle.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
