After knocking off Unicoi County on Sunday, the Elizabethton Cyclones were looking to continue steering their boat in the right direction to stay in the winner’s bracket of the Upper Lakes Conference tournament being played at Northeast Community Credit Union Ball Park.

However, Tennessee High had the same thought and was able to jump out front with four runs playing as the home team and then fending off the Cyclones down the stretch to capsize the Cyclones, 5-2.

The Cyclones just couldn’t get the offensive sticks going in the contest as Viking pitcher Brayden Blevins managed to keep the Cyclones in check giving up only three hits in the game.

Ethan Meier, Peyton Johnson, and Zac Workman collected the hits for the Cyclones on the afternoon. Blevins struck out six Cyclones and walked none.

Johnson was saddled with the tough loss as he allowed four hits and four runs over four and two-thirds of an inning. The Cyclone hurler struck out eight Viking batters.

Andrew Dingus led Tennessee High with a 2-for-3 performance.
