After just missing the podium in 2021, Elizabethton High School sprinter Kaiya Simmons wouldn’t let that happen again as the sophomore Lady Cyclone performer finished in fourth place during the TSSAA Class AA State Track and Field Competition on Tuesday in Murfreesboro.
Simmons earned All-State honors for her effort.
Avia Lane of Martin Luther King captured first while Ariya Rice and Aliyah Andrews finished just ahead of Simmons.
Simmons time was 12.74, .58 seconds behind Lane.
