Trial enters second day for man charged with killing 4-month-old daughter

Testimony began Wednesday in the trial of a Johnson City man accused of killing his infant daughter.
Paul Morgan Beard was charged in September 2019 with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 4-month-old Kenlyn Beard. The infant, who lived in Elizabethton at the time, died Sept. 18, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained from an apparent fall. At the time of the incident, Beard told first responders that he dropped the baby while he was holding her.
Prosecution testimony on Tuesday included the infant’s mother, Diana Buck; the infant’s grandmother, Darlene Buck; and first responders who were called to the scene.
The trial was scheduled to continue Wednesday in Carter County Criminal Court.
