Carter County residents have only a few more days to wait until they can once again Skate by the Doe.
The popular holiday attraction returns to downtown Elizabethton on Nov. 26, with the first skate session scheduled for 3 p.m.
Once again, the outdoor skating rink is presented by Carter County Bank in partnership with the City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation Department and the Chamber of Commerce.
“The holiday season is our favorite time of year, and we love working with partners like the Elizabethton Chamber and Parks & Recreation to bring our community these events,” said Andrew McKeehan, president of Carter County Bank. “Our beautiful city really shines, and we love sponsoring the fun and festive atmosphere downtown.”
The open-air skating rink is among the most popular attractions in the season-long schedule of events coordinated in downtown Elizabethton.
“There’s so much to do in Elizabethton this season, no matter what you’re looking for,” said Kelly Kitchens, programming and special events coordinator with the city’s parks and recreation department. “With five weeks filled with events … memories are ready to be made and cherished forever.
“We hope to see you and your families celebrating with us this season.”
The city’s downtown Christmas Tree — also sponsored by Carter County Bank — will be lit at 5 p.m. on Nov. 19.
On Nov. 26, in addition to the opening of the ice rink, a Christmas Movie in the Park will be offered at 5 p.m. And on Dec. 10, from 1 to 2:45 p.m., Santa will be downtown to visit with area children.
“We want to invite you and your family to Carter County this holiday,” said Joy McCray, executive director of the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce. “Whether you are a local or new to our region, add a trip to Carter County to your holiday list. This is a great opportunity to make memories of a lifetime.”
