Senior guard Lyndie Ramsey was recognized on Thursday night for becoming Unaka’s all-time scoring leader.
At halftime during the contest between Unaka and Chuckey-Doak, Unaka Coach Kenneth Chambers recognized Ramsey for breaking the previous record of 2,154 points held by Angie Peters since 1988.
The senior continues to add to her total of 2,206 points with a lot of basketball left to be played. Ramsey led the Rangers on Thursday with 30 points in a losing effort falling to the Black Knights 61-53.
During her sophomore year, Ramsey became only the second girls’ basketball player in Carter County history to score 1,000 points before her junior season. She accomplished that feat on Feb.y 12, 2021, matching the record set by Leslie Campbell in the 1980s.
Unaka Lady Rangers will host Sullivan East on Dec. 6.
