Carter County Youth Basketball League teams punch ticket to championship

Tournament play continues as teams punch tickets at Valley Forge and Hunter Elementary Schools on Thursday night to advance to the championship. In Junior Cadet semifinal action, Bulldogs JC 1 topped Hunter JC 1 and Cloudland JC 1 topped Keenburg JC 1 to advance to the championship game on Saturday. Hunter Cadet 1 would pull an upset, defeating top-seeded Cloudland Cadet 1 in semifinal action to earn the right to face Cloudland Cadet 2, who defeated Bulldogs Cadet 1. The Peewee division would see one of the best games of the year, with Bulldogs PW 2 coming back from 11 down to take the win against Keenburg PW 1. Cloudland PW 1 topped Bulldogs PW 1 and will face Bulldogs PW 2 for the championship on Saturday. Star Photographer Tyler Scalf was present at Valley Forge Elementary School to share some of the tournament action with Star readers.
The tournament continues at Unaka High School on Saturday.
Tournament Schedule:
• Hunter JC 1 and Keenburg JC 1 will play at 10:00 am Saturday for third place.
• Cloudland Cadet 1 and Bulldogs Cadet 1 will play at 11:00 am Saturday for third place.
• Bulldogs PW 1 and Keenburg PW 1 will play at 12:00 pm Saturday for third place.
• Bulldogs JC 1 and Cloudland JC 1 will play at 2:00 pm Saturday for the Championship.
• Hunter Cadet 1 and Cloudland Cadet 2 will play at 3:00 pm Saturday for the Championship.
• Cloudland PW 1 and Bulldogs PW 2 will play at 4:00 pm Saturday for the Championship.
CCYBL cheerleading competition is scheduled to take place Sunday starting at 2:00 pm at Unaka High School. Doors open at 1:00 pm.
