Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The Hampton Lady Bulldogs visited the Happy Valley Lady Warriors on Tuesday night and put on a defensive clinic to win their second straight game, 2-1. Hampton would turn three double plays and a triple play to hold the Lady Warriors to one run. The Lady Bulldogs would take a 1-0 lead in the opening inning off back-to-back singles from Abby Willis and Ryleigh Nickles, with Willis scoring.  The Lady Warriors would try to bounce back in the bottom of the first by drawing a couple of walks and a single by Reagan Street but Hampton’s defense would step up by turning a double play to keep a 1-0 lead after one. After giving up a couple of walks, Lady Warriors pitcher Ella Marvel would get some help from her defense to hold the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the second. Trinity Bowers would lead off the bottom of the second for Happy Valley by getting hit by a pitch and Mailey Guy would draw a walk to give the Lady Warriors runners on first and second with no outs. Hampton’s pitcher Cheyenne Fair would benefit from another double play to help hold Happy Valley scoreless after two. In the top of the third, Maleah Scalf would score to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. The Lady Warriors would bounce back, scoring one run in the bottom of the third off of singles by Julie Nieminski and Marvel to close the gap to 2-1. Hampton would need a double play in the fifth and a triple play in the seventh to close out the game to take a 2-1 victory.
