The Elizabethton Police Department is investigating a shooting which occurred Monday at the Stateline Market, 1876 Highway 19E Bypass.
Elizabethton Police Officers upon receiving the call at 9:18 p.m. responded to the location and found a male subject lying on the ground inside the convenience store with a single gunshot wound to the right hip. The officer’s report noted the male was conscious and alert. Officers rendered aid to the victim until the Carter County Rescue Squad arrived and transported him to the hospital, where he was later treated and released.
The investigation by officers discovered the male that was shot had been involved in a verbal argument with another male that escalated into a physical altercation in the area of the fuel pumps. According to the EPD report, the other male got into his car and drove away.
The names of the parties involved in the altercation have yet to be released by the EPD, however, officers said the incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
