Lady Cyclones volleyball team rallies for first conference win

In a display of grit and determination, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones overcame an early setback to secure a thrilling victory over the Unicoi County Lady Devils. After dropping the first set, Elizabethton bounced back to win the next three, triumphing 16-25, 25-13, 25-16, and 25-20. This victory marked their first conference win.
Ainsley Wampler spearheaded the Lady Cyclones’ offensive charge, leading the team with 10 kills. The dynamic duo of Abby Guinn and Jocelin Julian showcased their playmaking abilities with 13 assists each. Zoe Proffitt displayed her defensive prowess, recording an impressive 24 digs, while Ava George Wilber proved to be an imposing presence at the net with five crucial blocks.
Kaley Toney led the Lady Devils (2-4, 0-3) with six kills and two service aces. Ellie Shelton orchestrated the offense effectively, amassing 12 assists. Noell Farnor, Madison Oaks, and Selah Smith anchored the Lady Devils’ defense with double-digit digs, with Farnor leading the way at 15.
Elizabethton (2-4, 1-2 District 1-AA) will use this momentum as they continue their journey through the conference, while Unicoi County (2-4, 0-3) will regroup and prepare for their next challenge.
