Monster Fest continues through October at the Bonnie Kate Theater in downtown Elizabethton with Night of the Living Dead and Last Man on Earth showing on Thursday, October 26, and Friday, Oct. 27, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for the double feature.

Bonnie Kate has quite the comeback story. The historic theater located in downtown Elizabethton on S. Sycamore Street opened as a movie theater in 1925. Throughout the years, the theater hosted talent shows, bond drives for the ear, and church services. Eventually, it closed its doors and fell into disrepair.

The theater was purchased by the East Tennessee Foundation in 2016, and repairs have been underway. In the meantime, Bonnie Kate continues to host plays, musicians, and events.
