FROM STAFF REPORTS
Join the efforts to Keep Carter County Beautiful in the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s “No Trash November Tweetsie Trail Cleanup” scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to assemble in the parking lot behind the Coffee Company at 444 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.
The cleanup mission will target the removal of trash and litter along the picturesque Tweetsie Trail, starting from the Coffee Company and extending eastward to the Trailhead at Snap-On Tools. To ensure safety and efficiency, volunteers will be equipped with gloves, safety vests, garbage bags, and grabbers. Water will also be provided to keep everyone hydrated. Dressing appropriately for the weather is recommended.
To maintain strict adherence to TDOT safety regulations, interested participants can access the TDOT safety video on Keep Carter County Beautiful’s website at www.kccbtn.org/events before joining the cleanup. All volunteers will be required to sign a TDOT waiver before participating.
Furthermore, it’s important to note that littering in Tennessee carries a hefty $500 fine, but there’s a $50 reward for anyone providing evidence that leads to a conviction. This event serves as a collective effort to beautify the community and promote responsible waste management.
