JOHNSON CITY – Tragedy struck on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 2:37 p.m., when officers from the Johnson City Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 26 near mile marker 17.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Darrell Clark and other family members were attending to Mr. Clark’s disabled Ford F-150 on the shoulder of the road. In a devastating turn of events, a Mazda 3, traveling westbound on I-26, collided with both the Ford F-150 and Mr. Clark.

Despite immediate response from emergency personnel, Mr. Clark succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported among the involved parties.

The Johnson City Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team has taken charge of the investigation to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. The specialized team will meticulously analyze the details, reconstructing the sequence of events leading to the crash.
