FROM STAFF REPORTS
The VFW Post 2166 Auxiliary, in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank, is organizing a food distribution event for veterans and their families in need of assistance on Friday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. The distribution will take place at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton.
Participants are requested to ensure there is space in their vehicle trunks to accommodate the food box and are asked to pop their trunk upon arrival in the distribution line at the post. Volunteers will load the food box directly into the trunk while individuals can remain in their vehicles, ensuring a contactless distribution process for everyone’s health and safety.
To facilitate a smooth distribution, organizers urge attendees to call David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office (at 542-1824) to sign up in advance. Providing an estimated number of attendees will assist in ensuring an adequate supply of food boxes for distribution.
