FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Assistance and Resource Ministries (ARM) has recently secured a $2,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to aid in supporting individuals experiencing hunger in Carter County. This “Feeding the Hungry” grant specifically bolsters ARM’s initiatives aimed at providing nutritious meals to over 900 people facing food insecurity, especially during the holiday season.
This donation contributes to ARM’s ongoing efforts, dating back to 1991, to furnish food, clothing, and essential resources to families in need across Carter County. The grant will significantly assist in offering healthy holiday meals to both adults and children who lack access to school lunches during this period.
Furthermore, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, based in Salisbury, N.C., remains dedicated to addressing food insecurity across the 10 states it serves. Since its establishment in 2001, the foundation has disbursed over $18.1 million in grants, bolstering various programs and organizations committed to eradicating hunger in local communities.
This partnership aligns ARM’s mission with Food Lion Feeds’ dedication to supporting hunger-relief programs, including backpack initiatives, Kids Cafés, and long-term strategies to reduce food bank dependency. The foundation collaborates with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief agency, alongside local food agencies, amplifying its impact on hunger relief efforts.
