Man arrested for aggravated assault and false imprisonment

JOHNSON CITY – On Dec. 10, Jamaire Smith, 22, from Fayetteville, N.C., was arrested by officers of the Johnson City Police Department on charges of aggravated assault, a domestic-related incident, and false imprisonment.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a man and a woman. The woman informed law enforcement that Smith confiscated her phone and car keys, restraining her from leaving. She also reported that Smith choked her, causing her to lose consciousness.
Following the incident, Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. He is currently held on a $16,000 bond.
