Johnson City man arrested on multiple charges after evading police

JOHNSON CITY – On December 14, Wei Yang, a 21-year-old resident of Johnson City, was apprehended by officers from the Johnson City Police Department on charges including felony evading arrest, reckless driving, speeding, and violation of a red light.

The arrest stemmed from an incident on December 13 around 10 a.m. when law enforcement officers attempted to halt a speeding vehicle. Despite officers’ attempts, the driver refused to stop and skillfully navigated through congested traffic to evade the pursuing authorities. Subsequent investigations identified Wei Yang as the driver involved in the evasion.

Following the identification, officers secured a warrant for Yang’s arrest and apprehended him at his residence without incident.

Yang is presently held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. He is slated to appear for arraignment at the Washington County General Sessions Court on December 15 at 10:30 a.m.
