Johnson City Police arrest Burton for aggravated assault following trespassing incident

On January 17, Johnson City Police Department officers apprehended Robert Eric Burton, 42, of Johnson City, charging him with aggravated assault.
The incident unfolded on January 14 at approximately 2:50 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a Rockgarden Road residence following a trespassing report. The victim, identified as Burton’s girlfriend, alleged that he had forcibly grabbed her neck, impeding her breathing, in addition to kicking her in the stomach. She further claimed that Burton had issued threats to her life. Burton fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Despite an initial search proving unsuccessful, officers secured a warrant for Burton’s arrest. On January 17, the JCPD received intelligence suggesting Burton’s presence behind a warehouse on North State of Franklin Road. Responding swiftly, officers apprehended Burton at around 7:40 p.m. He was subsequently transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
