FROM STAFF REPORTS
VFW Post 2166 and the Post Auxiliary are collaborating with Second Harvest Food Bank to host a food distribution event for veterans and their families in need. The distribution is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton.
Participants are requested to ensure they have ample space in their trunk for the food box and to open their trunk upon arrival in the distribution line at the post. To maintain safety protocols, individuals can remain in their vehicles while volunteers load the food box into their trunk. The distribution will be conducted with no person-to-person contact to prioritize everyone’s health.
To assist Second Harvest in estimating the number of food boxes required, organizers urge interested individuals to contact David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office by calling 542-1824 to sign up for the distribution. This will help ensure an adequate supply of food for all participants.
