In the boys’ game, the Bulldogs aimed to avenge an earlier season loss at Doak. Despite Doak’s early 17-7 lead in the first quarter, the Bulldogs rallied with a spirited 10-0 run to tie the game at 17 by the quarter’s end. Continuing their momentum into the second quarter, the Bulldogs forced turnovers and surged to a 42-26 lead by halftime, erasing a ten-point deficit. The third quarter saw Doak fail to close the gap, trailing 60-44 entering the final quarter. Although the Knights briefly narrowed the margin to twelve points in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs swiftly regained control, securing an 86-66 victory. This win improved the Bulldogs’ overall record to 15-9, highlighting a notable 7-2 conference play record.
The victory sets the stage for a potentially decisive conference title game against West Greene, offering a chance to create a three-way tie for the conference title. Chuckey Doak has already secured the #1 seed in the District Tourney, while Hampton claims the #2 seed, and South Greene secures the third seed. Up next, Cloudland visits for a highly anticipated county rivalry matchup, featuring the undefeated Lady Highlanders against the Lady Dogs. Additionally, despite a challenging season, the Cloudland boys are anticipated to bring their best effort against the Bulldogs in what promises to be an intense matchup.
