The Cloudland Lady Highlanders suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to the Lady Dogs with a final score of 59-44. In a dominating performance, the Lady Dogs led for the majority of the game. Meanwhile, in the boys’ matchup, the Bulldog team triumphed over the Highlanders with a commanding score of 86-34.
In the women’s game, the Lady Dogs established an early lead of 24-17 after a competitive first quarter. They extended their advantage to 40-29 by halftime and maintained control throughout the game, finishing the third quarter with a score of 50-37. Despite efforts by the Lady Landers to narrow the gap, the Lady Dogs maintained their composure, securing a convincing victory. The win brings the Lady Dogs’ overall record to 17-9 for the season.
In contrast, the Cloudland boys initially aimed to control the pace of the game but found themselves overwhelmed by the Bulldogs’ relentless offense. Despite a competitive first quarter where Hampton led 17-11, the Bulldogs surged ahead with a 25-9 second quarter, leading to a commanding 42-20 halftime advantage. By the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs maintained a formidable lead of 74-28. The team’s bench players took the spotlight in the final quarter, sealing the 86-34 victory with a running clock. With this win, the Bulldogs’ overall record improves to 16-9.
Looking ahead, both Bulldog teams will travel to Mosheim in Greene County for their final conference games of the season on Thursday. The matchups against West Greene will determine shares of first place for both teams.
