FROM STAFF REPORTS
Jim and Helen Wilson, esteemed residents of Elizabethton, were commemorated for their invaluable contributions to Assistance and Resource Ministries (ARM) during a heartfelt dedication ceremony.
The Wilsons, longstanding pillars of the community, served as dedicated board members at ARM, located at 714 West C St., Elizabethton. They played integral roles in the establishment of ARM as a non-profit organization aimed at providing food pantry and clothing closet services to Carter County in the early 1990s. Jim, who sadly passed away in October 2023, faithfully served as ARM treasurer for 25 years, while Helen contributed her leadership expertise on the ARM board for an equal amount of time.
In recognition of their unwavering commitment and leadership, the current ARM board decided to honor Jim and Helen Wilson by naming the front office of ARM as the Jim and Helen Wilson Reception Area. The dedication ceremony took place on Friday, Feb. 2, and was marked by a reception provided by their friends from First Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton, and the ARM board of directors.
ARM, under the direction of Michelle Kitchens as director and Rick Kortze as assistant director, remains steadfast in its mission to serve families in Carter County. The organization operates on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. For inquiries, the ARM office can be contacted at 423-542-0919.
