Andrea Lewis named 2023 Outstanding Adult Volunteer at Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards

Andrea Lewis of Carter County was honored as the 2023 outstanding adult volunteer at the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA) event held in Franklin, Tenn., on February 18. The GVSA program, an initiative by Volunteer Tennessee, aims to recognize exceptional volunteers from each of Tennessee’s 95 counties.
Since 2008, counties across the state have conducted a call for nominations and acknowledged one outstanding youth and one outstanding adult volunteer annually.
Andrea Lewis, the Business Development and Event Coordinator at Northeast Community Credit Union, was selected for her exemplary service to Carter County. She actively participates in various committees and organizations dedicated to the betterment of the community.
Expressing her gratitude for the award, Andrea remarked, “I feel honored to be selected as a Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award recipient. I want to give a special thanks to the citizens of Carter County, my friends at the Elizabethton Chamber, Carter County Mayor Patty Woodby, Governor Bill Lee, and my wonderful team at Northeast Community Credit Union. I look forward to continuing my service on the committees and organizations that make it possible for all to experience the wonderful community we have.”
Joy McCray, Executive Director of the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce, praised Andrea’s dedication, stating, “Andrea is such a wonderful ambassador for Carter County! She is so supportive of our community, new locals, and small businesses. She is always so positive, has a volunteer attitude, and is so fun. Her kindness is contagious.”
Carter County Mayor Patty Woodby also lauded Andrea’s contributions, saying, “Andrea Lewis is one of Carter County’s finest individuals. She is compassionate, always willing to help those in need, and a positive supporter of our community. We congratulate her in receiving this award and being recognized for her many talents.”
Teresa Arnold, President and CEO at Northeast Community Credit Union, expressed pride in Andrea’s achievements, stating, “Andrea is a tremendous asset to our credit union and to our community. She genuinely cares about those around her. We at Northeast Community Credit Union are so pleased to see her service and compassion recognized at such a high level.”
Kathy Campbell, Community Engagement Director at Northeast Community Credit Union and Board President of the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce, commended Andrea’s dedication, saying, “Andrea is so deserving of the 2024 Volunteer Tennessee’s Governor’s Award. She has a huge heart and truly wants those in need to have better lives. She is a humble example of a volunteer, motivated by love and compassion who works to make our community better.”
