GATLINBURG – Jason Davenport, Captain of Carter County EMS, was honored with the prestigious Larry Griffin Paramedic Award by the Tennessee Ambulance Service Association (TASA) during the 2024 Mid-Winter Leadership Conference. The annual event, which brings together Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals from throughout Tennessee, includes an awards banquet recognizing outstanding contributions in the field.

Joyce Noles, President of TASA, expressed admiration for Davenport’s dedication, stating, “Captain Davenport is so deserving of the Paramedic Award this year. Jason has dedicated his entire career and much of his free time to ensuring that the people of Carter County are safe, and receiving high-quality, often life-saving, care.”

Davenport has been an integral part of Carter County EMS since the late 1990s, serving in various capacities and currently holding the position of shift captain. His leadership extends beyond administrative duties; he actively engages in paramedic intercept assistance, fostering confidence and enhancing patient care decision-making among his team members. Moreover, Davenport has spearheaded initiatives such as integrating new functions into the truck tracking maintenance system and narcotic tracking system.

Beyond his operational roles, Davenport plays a vital role in the service’s training program, offering instruction in ACLS, PALS, BLS, CPR, First Aid, and other trauma classes.

TASA stands as Tennessee’s premier association for EMS professionals, committed to supporting and elevating the profession while advocating for the highest standards of ambulance service and emergency medical care across communities statewide.
