VFW Post 2166 and its Auxiliary are teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank to host a food distribution event for veterans and their families in need of assistance.

The event is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton. Participants are requested to make space in their trunk for the food box and to pop their trunk upon arrival in the distribution line. The distribution will be contactless, with volunteers loading the food boxes directly into vehicles to prioritize health and safety.

To ensure an adequate supply of food boxes, organizers urge interested individuals to contact David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office by calling 542-1824 to sign up for the event. This pre-registration will help in estimating the number of food boxes needed for distribution.
