The National Weather Service office in Morristown has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia for Monday, March 25.
Strong and gusty winds are expected over some of the higher elevations and foothills of the East Tennessee mountains today, with increasing mountain wave winds anticipated tonight. A Wind Advisory and High Wind Warning have been issued for Carter County and surrounding areas. Furthermore, relative humidity values are forecasted to be low this afternoon, resulting in elevated fire danger when combined with the gusty winds. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed about weather updates and exercise caution, particularly regarding outdoor activities and fire safety measures.
