Carter County Farm Bureau announces winners of 5th Grade Essay Contest

Carter County Farm Bureau has announced the winners of its 5th Grade Essay Contest, with the awards presented on March 20.

Brycen Johnson, the son of Tylor and Haley Ballard and a student at Cloudland Elementary School under the guidance of teacher Elizabeth VanHoy, secured the first-place position. Johnson’s essay, addressing the topic “Why is agriculture important?” earned him the top honor.

Following closely behind, Tessa Strickland, daughter of Tashia Winters and also a student at Cloudland Elementary School under the instruction of Elizabeth VanHoy, clinched second place.

Aurora Morton, the daughter of Adrianna Morton, attained the third-place position. Morton is a student at Happy Valley Middle School under the tutelage of teacher Nancy Lyons.

The first-place winner received a prize of $100, while the second-place winner was awarded $50, and the third-place winner received $25.
