Elizabethton Police Department reports arrests

The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:

  • On March 22, officers arrested Oscar Gomez, 48, of Johnson City, charging him with sexual battery. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Dec. 20, 2023, at a residence on W. State of Franklin Road. According to reports, a juvenile female reported that Gomez inappropriately touched her against her will. Gomez was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
  • Officer Matthew Scott responded to a call regarding a suspicious male on March 22. Upon arrival at the Tweetsie Trail at the Ward Street intersection, Scott encountered Justin Lewis Garland, who displayed signs of being under the influence. Garland, who admitted to recently using methamphetamine, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Officer Erin Potter responded to a Flock System Alert for a stolen vehicle on March 22. Upon locating the vehicle at Lynnwood/Lynnridge apartment complex, Potter encountered Korane Quatez Moore, who claimed to have borrowed the vehicle from an acquaintance named Tyler. Moore was arrested for possession of stolen property, no driver’s license, expired registration, and criminal trespass, among other charges.
  • Officer Matthew Scott observed a green Mazda truck almost causing a collision on Bemberg Road on March 22. Christopher W. Ward, the driver, was found to have a suspended license. Ward was charged with driving on a suspended license and misuse of registration.
  • Officer Franklin Peters made contact with Daniel Gery Morris Jr. underneath the Broad Street Bridge on March 22. Morris was found to have an active arrest warrant for violation of probation and was transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
