Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for Southwest NC, East TN, and Southwest VA: Snow showers and freezing temperatures expected

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia.

Today and Tonight:

Periods of snow showers are expected to persist across the higher elevations, with light snow accumulations possible above 3000 feet. Total accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible above 4500 feet. Wind chills may drop into the teens.

Friday:

Snow showers will continue above 3000 feet in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia through Friday afternoon, with additional light accumulations possible above 4500 feet. Freezing temperatures are anticipated for much of the area Friday night.
