The annual cruise-in event is set to return to downtown Elizabethton starting May 11, promising an evening filled with cars and camaraderie from 5 to 9 p.m.
This year, several changes are in store for the beloved tradition. Elk Avenue is now open, and organizers urge attendees to drive with caution and adhere to speed limits.
Traffic adjustments for this year’s event include:
- Club members will assist in parking vehicles. Attendees are reminded not to block crosswalks or fire hydrants.
- Only the 400 and 500 blocks of downtown will be utilized for the weekly cruise-ins, with the 500 block ending at South Sycamore Street. Cars participating in the cruise-in are prohibited from parking in the 600 block, which will be reserved exclusively for the all-day show.
- Elm Street will operate as a one-way street only, with the end adjacent to “E” Street being closed off.
In the event that extra space is required, the upper end of “E” Street will be utilized. Club members will assist in directing traffic to “E” Street via Armed Forces Drive, and the upper end of “E” Street will be closed off during this process. Club members will also aid in parking vehicles. Organizers emphasize the importance of patience and understanding as these changes are implemented, acknowledging that it may take a few weeks to optimize the new arrangements.
The return of the annual cruise-in is eagerly anticipated, offering a nostalgic celebration of classic cars and community spirit in downtown Elizabethton.
