VFW Post 2166 and its Auxiliary are collaborating with Second Harvest Food Bank to conduct a food distribution event for veterans and their families in need of assistance. The distribution will take place on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave.
Participants are requested to ensure space in their trunk for the food box and to open their trunk upon arrival in the distribution line at the post. Attendees can remain in their vehicles as volunteers load the food box, maintaining a no-contact process to prioritize health and safety.
To assist Second Harvest in estimating the number of food boxes needed, individuals planning to attend are encouraged to contact David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824 to sign up.
This collaborative effort aims to provide essential support to veterans and their families while minimizing person-to-person contact for health protection.
