Johnson City man arrested on drug charges

JOHNSON CITY — Christopher Rankin, a 39-year-old resident of Telford, was apprehended by officers of the Johnson City Police Department on May 6, following a routine traffic stop. Rankin faces charges of felony methamphetamine possession and simple possession of marijuana.
During the traffic stop, officers detected an odor consistent with marijuana emanating from Rankin’s vehicle. Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted, leading to the discovery of 4.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 13.2 grams of suspected marijuana within the vehicle.
Following his arrest, Rankin was transported to the Washington County Detention Center to await further legal proceedings.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details pertaining to the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
