Clayton Rush Campbell

Copperas Cove, Texas – Clayton Rush Campbell 84, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. Clayton was born May 22, 1929, in Honaker, Va., to Harvey Texas Campbell and Alcie Campbell. He received two bachelor degrees from the University of Maryland and the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. Clayton served in the United States Air Corps and the United States Army for 30 years and retired as a command sergeant major in Fort Sill, Okla. Clayton was a veteran of the Korea and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Phyllis Campbell.
He is survived by his three daughters, Jacquelyn “Lori” Campbell of Houston, Susan Wasiak and her husband Stanley of San Antonio, and Sharon Parker and her husband Chris of League City; as well as a sister, Janet Shipley. He is also survived by grandchildren William Wasiak, Lauren Wasiak, Claire Wasiak, and Cooper Parker.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. Internment service will follow at Holston View Cemetery located in Weber City, Va.
