On May 30, 2014, William “Bill” L. Noble Jr. died at Bristol Regional Hospital, in Bristol, Tenn. He lost a battle with cancer, specifically a large B cell lymphoma. He had just turned 60 years of age on May 10. His sister, Beverly Patterson, was at his side. He was a resident of Bluff City, Tenn., for the past seven years.
Mr. Noble was preceded in death by his grandparents, E. Lloyd and Estella Noble of Muscatine, Iowa, and Lawrence and Myrtle Cyphers of Elizabethton, Tenn.
He is survived by his parents, William and Jo Anne (Cyphers) Noble of Bristol, Tenn. Also surviving is his sister, Beverly (Noble) Patterson, of Mason, Wis. His cat “Pretty Girl” brought great joy to him.
Bill was a graduate of Tremper High School, where he was a member of the swim team. He was active in the Boy Scouts, where his father was a troop leader. He was employed by American Motors, Renault-Jeep, and Chrysler Jeep for 25 years, last working as a journeyman mechanic at the Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio, but mostly he worked in Kenosha.
Bill considered himself a patriot and constitutionalist. He restored older model AMC cars, like the Javelin. He dedicated the last seven years of his life to caring for his parents, who are now in a long-term care facility, the Cambridge House, in Bristol, Tenn.
A gathering will be held in his honor at the Cambridge House on Friday, June 6, at 7 p.m. Memorials in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made with the Cremation Society of Northeast Tennessee in Bluff City.
