Betty Ann Woods

Betty Ann Woods, 82, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, August 1, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Katie Cox Richardson.
Mrs. Woods was a homemaker. She attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Grayson, Frank and Billy Richardson; three sisters, Charlotte Minton, Wanda Lou Caldwell and Lasley Richardson; and her son-in-law, Ken Matherly.
Survivors include two children, Robin Matherly, Elizabethton, and Eddie Woods and wife Joy, Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Scarlett Gouge, Beth Strickland and husband Joey, Rebekah Hodge and husband Michael, Joseph Woods and wife Ashley, Casey Crumley and husband Brad and Brenda Roberson and husband Chris; seven great-grandchildren, Makayla, Austin, Madison, Maddux, Kyndall, Norah and Crickett; a sister, Mary Katherine Wilson, Maryville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Virginia “Pidge” Lancaster.
Funeral services for Mrs. Woods will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hunter Greene, the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 4, in the Richardson Cemetery with Dr. James Richardson officiating. Music will be provided by Cheri Cox, pianist, The Minton Family and Loren Harris. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:10 p.m. Monday, will be Joseph Woods, Michael Hodge, Joey Strickland, Austin Fair, Greg Crowe, Mike Blevins, Jeff Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Randy Richardson, David Davis, Danny Minton, Jimmy Minton, Bobby Minton, Paul Minton and Tommy Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Monty Fleenor, Roy Rumley, Troy Rumley, Dub Maines, Doug Maines and Charlie Woods. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center and the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center for the excellent care our mother received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Joy Woods.
