Marcus Landon Sammons, infant son of Steven Sammons and April Simerly, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Lawrence and Lena Simerly and Mabel Ingram.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Steve and Wanda Sammons, Candler, N.C., and Jack and Lisa Simerly, Roan Mountain; great-grandmother, Marie Sammons, Fletcher, N.C.; great-grandmother, Juanita Haspel, Asheville, N.C.; aunt, Amber Mann and her husband, Scott, Gap Creek Community; two special cousins, Sebastian Mann, Gap Creek Community, and Natalie Richardson, Spruce Pine, N.C.; and several other cousins.
The funeral service for Marcus will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, at Hall Church with Rev. John Vance and Rev. Bill Highsmith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service at the church, and at the residence, 131 Hidden Oaks Lane, Roan Mountain, at anytime. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Hall Cemetery.
