Warriors fall prey to Abingdon’s Falcons

In a fast-paced first half, the Abingdon Falcons rode the arm and legs of sophomore quarterback Nick Sturgill to a 15-7 halftime lead over Happy Valley on Friday night on Warrior Hill.

Things did not improve for Happy Valley in the second half as Abingdon dominated in a 36-7 win to spoil homecoming and keep the Warriors in search of the elusive first win of the season.

Abingdon (3-1) scored on its first drive of the contest moving 73 yards in seven plays, with Sturgill completing 3-for-3 passes in the drive — including a 6-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Yates for a 7-0 Falcons lead at the 9:26 mark.
