ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. – Receive help filing the 2016 Free Application For Student Aid to meet the Feb. 15 Tennessee Promise Deadline. TCAT Elizabethton will host the event Thursday, Feb. 4, from 6-8:30 p.m., in the multipurpose room of the Administration Building at the TCAT Elizabethton Main Campus, located at 426 Highway 91 North in Elizabethton.
Tennessee Promise is both a scholarship and mentoring program that began in the fall of 2015. The scholarship covers tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation funds. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institution offering an associate’s degree program.
College Goal Tennessee (http://tn.gov/collegegoaltn) is a free, volunteer charitable effort to provide information and assist low-income and first-generation college students and their families. Students planning to attend the workshop need to log onto the Website to register to allow for efficient seating. College Goal Tennessee helps families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) required to qualify for college financial aid nationwide.
. Students and/or parents should bring the following items if available:
· 2015 federal tax return or other income documentation
· Social security numbers for student and parents
· Driver’s license
· 2015 W-2 forms or other records of income

· 2015 bank statements
· 2015 business and investment mortgage information, stock, bond, and other investment records

To maintain eligibility for the TN Promise Scholarship, the student must submit the FAFSA prior to February 15th.
