Milligan College’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program (M.S.O.T.) will host its 11th annual Occupational Therapy Expo on Wednesday, April 20, from 3-7 p.m. in Milligan’s Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts. It is free and open to the public.

The expo will give the community a chance to see creations of new or improved adapted equipment, assessments, promotional materials, books, games, activities, DVDs and training materials made by second-year occupational therapy students. Continuing education credit is available for licensed occupational therapists who attend the expo.

“Year after year, the OT Expo appeals to a broad audience — from parents of young children to caregivers of adults,” said Dr. Jil Smith, associate professor of occupational therapy. “It prepares these soon-to-be occupational therapists to be creative and resourceful in designing interventions and equipment to assist their future clients in any therapy setting.”

This year, students will exhibit 32 individualized products that represent occupational therapy, as well as their own practice interests and knowledge. At the conclusion of the expo, the OT students donate their projects to various agencies and clients.

Occupational therapists work with all ages in a variety of settings. They develop collaborative and personalized interventions that address individual struggles with physical, cognitive, emotional and sensory concerns that impact all areas of life. The expo will provide more information about the services occupational therapists provide to individuals and the community.
