At Roan Mountain, we house, care for, and educate the public on a variety of native animals. We work under an educational permit from TWRA. Currently, we care for three birds of prey and several snakes! As you can imagine, caring for these animals is costly, as their food and health care are a specialty!
All of our animals are non-releasable for a variety of reasons. We frequently program with these animals and never charge for educational programs when using them. Here is your opportunity to support our educational wildlife program and help us care for these animals! 
All donations will go to purchase food, pay vet bills, purchase gloves, tethers, falconry equipment, aquarium bedding, and to improve and build more housing facilities for our non-releasable birds of prey.

Saturday, August 7
The Roan Mountain Summer Concert Series 2021 will be held every Saturday through September from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Roan Mountain Community Park (19E behind the post office). Performing at 5 p.m. will be The Repossessed, bringing to Roan Mountain an amazing collection of Contemporary Americana music. At 6 p.m., The Rhythmbrewers will bring to the stage some original tunes and great classic rock. Grab a lawn chair, pack a snack and come enjoy an evening on the Roan. All concerts are free admission.

Tie Dye for Grownups! – 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Meet at Shelter 3. Price is $10.00/ Adult 2x, Adult XL, Adult L, Adult M, Adult SM. Register for the event. While commonly associated with counterculture of the 1960’s tie-dye is a traditional resist-dye technique that dates back to 5th century China, and was introduced to the United States in 1909.  In this 90 minute workshop, you’ll learn basic and intermediate tie-dye techniques, including the art and science of:
– Preparing and choosing fabrics
– Color theory & preparing dyes
– Tie Methods (it’s more than rubber bands!)
– Dye Application techniques
– Treating dyed items to ensure color-fastness

If you have never tie-dyed before OR if you’ve been disappointed with previous results, this workshop will build your confidence and get you off to a great start. It’s a little bit of science, a bit of creativity, and a LOT of fun! Workshop fee includes dyes & supplies to create one t-shirt in specified size (participants are welcome to bring additional items to use with any leftovers).  *Workshop participants should be aged 16 or older.  **3X, 4X, and 5X t-shirts are available, please contact program leader for extended sizing.

Roan Mountain Lodge #566 F.&A.M. will meet in stated communication at 312 West Street at 7 p.m. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend and visiting brethren are welcome. Social distancing guidelines will be followed 6′ rule and masks are asked to be worn because of the rise in local COVID-19 cases. Hand sanitizer will be provided.

Tuesday, August 17
The BCHET OutPost 3 Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Larry Jeffers home, 153 Vaughn Road Hampton. The agenda will include activities update, rides, and a workday. Please let Larry know if you plan to attend.
