The season is still fresh and new but if the Elizabethton boy’s and girls’ golf teams keep playing like they have in the opening couple of weeks of the season, the rest of the conference and region had better take note.

Behind Caleb Tipton’s 36 and Jacob Williams’ 38, the Cyclone boys took a 15-stroke victory over Daniel Boone and which finished with a 170 and David Crockett and University High which shot identical 175’s.

Luke Campbell and Dalton Sharp finished off the scoring for head coach Zach Ensor’s squad as Campbell carded out with a 40 and Sharp came into the clubhouse with a 41.

Alex Gouge (42) and Chase Buck (43) finished out the round as well for the Cyclones.

Tipton also finished as the individual medalist on the day with his round. Williams finished in second while University High’s Hank Berning collected third place with a round of 39.

Austin Moody of Boone completed the day with a round of 41 to bring the Blazers to the second-place finish. Aiden Hyder (42), Dylan Side (43), and Daily Carder (44) finished out the four-man team score for Boone.

Crockett was paced by Eli Hanneken who finished the course with a 42 while Berning’s 39 was the low score of the day for U-H.

On the girls’ side of the scorecard, the Lady Blazers just barely escaped the clutches of the Lady Cyclones as Boone fired a team total 89 to edge the Lady Cyclones by one stroke as Elizabethton completed the day with a 90.

The Lady Pioneers finished third with a 101 while University High checked in with a 103.

Boone’s Haddie Lunceford outdueled Elizabethton’s Hannah McDonnell to carry her team to the win as Lunceford finished with a 43 to McDonnell’s 44.

Gabby Miller and Ashlynn Guy each finished their day with identical 46’s for the Lady Cyclones while Maylee Stout ended her day with a 54.

Crockett was led by Kadence Ball whose 49 combined with Krystyn Ball’s 52 gave the Lady Pioneers their 101 total.

Chloe Granger and Quinn Scheller finished with a total of 103 on the day as Granger carded a round of 51 followed by a 52 from Scheller.
