The Lady Bulldogs of Hampton picked up their fourth win of the season on Monday when they took down Avery Co., NC by the score of 18-14.
Trailing 6-1 heading into the top of the third inning, Hampton plated 10 runs to go ahead 11-6 and then the game was a see-saw battle the rest of the way with the Lady Bulldogs holding on for the victory.
Leading the way offensively for the Lady ‘Dogs were Madison Setlock with a 3-for-4 day with two singles and a homerun while reaching base on an error as well.  Macy Henry also batted 3-for -4 with three singles and a walk.
Abbie Willis registered two hits for Coach Chelsey Weddle’s team with one of those being a homerun in the top of the seventh inning to help give Hampton some breathing room.
Cheyenne Fair picked up the win from the pitching circle for Hampton.

SOUTH GREENE …5
The Unaka Lady Rangers scored six runs in the first three innings of their game against South Greene and held the Lady Rebels off down the stretch to earn the win.
Unaka reached South Greene pitcher Mallory Fillers for 14 hits on day led by Alana Parsons with three hits. Also recording multiple hits were Kylie Blevins, Hailey Gilman, Jill Faust, and Kendall Bare.
Sadie Shoun took the win from the pitching circle for Unaka as the senior gave up nine hits and five runs over the seven-inning complete game. Shoun struck out five and walked one.
Whitney Casteel Allison Penley, and Anna Willett had multiple hits for the Lady Rebels in their nine-hit outing.
BASEBALL
HAPPY VALLEY …. 6
JOHNSON CO. ….. 5
The Happy Valley Warriors built a 6-0 lead through four innings on Monday against the visiting Johnson County Longhorns and then had to battle down the stretch to hold on the 6-5 win.
Johnson Co. scored four runs in the top of the fifth and one in the top of the seventh to make the game close.
Tucker Shoun earned the victory from the hill for the Warriors tossing four innings while allowing four runs on six hits and striking out eight. Dakota Grindstaff came in from the bullpen and closed out the final three innings for Happy Valley.
Happy Valley recorded five hits in the game as Andrew Little, Shoun, Hunter Smith, Perdo Colunga, and Cameron Johnson collected one hit apiece.
Zac Parson’s absorbed the loss for the Longhorns as he went two and a third innings allowing two hits and five runs while recording four strikeouts.
GAME 1

CONCORD CHRISTIAN ….. 8
The FCA Flames faced Concord Christian Academy from Knoxville in a doubleheader as both teams split on the afternoon.
In game one, the Flames made a comeback bid which fell short despite a 2-for-2 effort from Carson Shah. Shah singled, tripled, and walked to pick up 4 RBI’s in the contest.
GAME 2

The Flames rebounded from their loss in game one to win the nightcap 11-3. A.J. Andrews went the distance for the Flames striking out six batters in a complete game.
Elijah Johnson had two doubles in the game to lead the Flames to victory.
FCA now stands at 5-7 on the season.

NORTH GREENE …..1
Hampton scored solo runs in the top of the first and second inning and added three in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a big Watauga Valley Conference win over the North Greene Huskies.
Hampton had 11 hits in the win with Collin Morgan leading the charge with a 3-for-4 afternoon. Brody Hicks and Conner Jones each recorded a pair of hits while Chance Point, Morgan Lyons, Jonathan Greenwell, and McKinley Kuhn each accounted for one hit apiece.
Josh Whitson toed the rubber for the ‘Dogs and pitched six and two-thirds of an inning to record the win. The righty allowed five hits and one run while fanning eight and walking none.
Morgan closed out the game in relief.
Drexel Grant was 2-for-4 to lead the Huskies offensively with Jesh Crawford taking the loss from the pitcher’s mound.
